Daniel McClain, Dusk, 2024, acrylic on canvas,  14 x 16

Transmission Gallery is pleased to present Do Over, a solo exhibition of exquisitely precise hand-rendered replications in graphite, watercolor and acrylic by Daniel McClain. McClain’s intensive focus on thoughtfully selected imagery elevates simple objects, illustrations and imagery to a place of contemplative resonance.

A careful examination of McClain's work is in order to fully appreciate the precisely realistic illusions he presents us with. Those photos of Paul, John, George and Ringo? They are actually drawings. The double image of the comb - is one a copy of the other? They are double drawings, each meticulous and deeply present. Torn tape? That's painted too. Only one image among the 18 on view is actually printed and collaged. Which one is it?

Enhancing the faux imagery, carefully considered formal elements of color and composition combine to anchor McClain's deftly painted illusions in place with a satisfying sense of balance and purpose. Small embedded details speak to the passage of time. Beautifully framed, see the work at Transmission Gallery through June 7th, Thursdays through Saturdays, 12 to 5 pm and open till 8 pm, Friday, May 2nd.

Please join us for the Opening Reception, Saturday April 26th. McClain will be on hand to discuss his work  from 1 to 4 pm. Stop by to enjoy the light refreshments, visit with the Artist and check out the work. Free street parking nearby.
